Teenager Excuses For Doing Badly at School - Part 1

There are lots of excuses that teenagers use in order to avoid performing well at school. Misbehaving is normal amongst all school children, but amongst teenagers it appears to be more rife. What are the excuses that your teenager uses to avoid good behavior?

Perhaps they think that certain subjects are “gay” or “not useful”. Yes, religious education, physics, math, and biology do have particular quirks and, yes, it may be that if you want to be an astrophysicist in the future then studying at this level and the particular subjects that are included may not be immediately useful. But it is your education and it is the only one that can be provided at this stage. Thousands of children before you and thousands of children after you have had the same or similar education and are also doing astrophysics (or such like) successfully.

In answer to teenager specific questions:

No, the teacher doesn t always pick on you. That is no excuse for you to do badly at school. They might pick on you but they also pick on Emma Johnson, Adrienne Fords, and Jason Pertwey. They seem to do their work well, why can t you?

Yes, you may have left your books at school but you can still do some homework surely? There are books here in the home - you made us buy lots of books. You also made us buy computers and Internet connections. Use them. I m sure you can find the information that you need.

You don t really mean it when you say you want to work in Wal-Mart when you leave school. You ve always said you want to be an astrophysicist or a scientist or a lawyer or a doctor. Just because you can t be bothered to do your homework that doesn t mean to say that you are really serious about having changed your job from one earning $100,000 per year to one earning $15,000.
